Owning Fine Art Photography Prints

Ansel Adams said, “The negative is the equivalent of the composer’s score, and the print is the performance.” I believe in Adam’s description, and the tangible print holds a special allure amidst our daily bombardment of images backlit on a screen. In the most profound sense, the print is a tactile expression of my vision, which I can share with my audience of collectors.

Exclusivity of Original Work

All Fine Art Photography prints, be they open or limited edition, are the exclusive work of the artist. Each print is signed and numbered.

Fine Art Print Substrates
Fine Art Print Substrates

I believe that fine art photographs must reward the owner with a rich tactile experience and an accurate representation of the created image. In most cases, this will be an archival fine art matte paper, and I may print on archival light gloss fiber paper for other collections. Eligible Substrates for each print appear on the print order page of my website.

Watercolor Photo Paper

Although this rough textured watercolor paper offers a natural white, matte finish. It is a perfect choice for monochromatic images, such as my Fantasia Flowers Series. This substrate provides a substantial tonal range, visual interests, and surface dimension to my larger art prints. These benefits make for excellent reproduction of both traditional art and photography.

Luster Photo Paper

This is an exceptional art photography print substrate. It is perfect landscape images such as my Western Wanderings Collections that a collector intends to frame and matt. This print paper has a mild sheen that brings out the color with less reflectivity, adding depth with high levels of dynamic contrast, creating a unique art print image.

Matte Photo Paper

The Fuji Matte substrate is archival, smooth to the touch, and has no sheen, meaning reflection and shine will be minimal. I recommend this for images where elegance and nuanced color depth matter, such as with my Beyond the Windows Collections. Fuji Matte has an extremely accurate color reproduction range, allowing me to create unique, impressive images.

Glossy Photo Paper

Fuji Glossy paper has a high-sheen finish, which gives your photo the WOW factor that you’ve been looking for. Fuji Glossy produces images with rich, deep blacks, brilliant colors, and a mirror-like surface. Glossy also has a neutral original white point, which adds to the shine.

Chromaluxe Glossy

This material is exceptional for much of my concentrated color palettes.  The archival qualities, image brilliance, and durability set Chromaluxe apart from all other print mediums.   With the use of dye sublimation (infusing dyes directly into the metal print), it provides results that are outstandingly clear; printing images directly onto a surface eliminates the risk of unwanted scratching. Make a lasting impression in your home, office, or conference area with Chromaluxe high-definition metal prints.

I use the most advanced archival inks and substrates with a life expectancy of several hundred years. Each print arrives in acid-free sleeves, secure packaging, and a print care guide.

Art Print Editions

Limited Edition Prints— A limited edition has a fixed number of prints from the beginning of the print run, and the number of images never changes. Limited Editions have two numbers: the print’s unique number and the size of the entire print run. The edition numbers appear on the reverse side of the art print and on the matt material in some cases. For example, the first print in an edition of 12 would be marked as 1/12, and the last work in this edition would be marked 12/12.

Prints are available in several substrate dimensions, such as 8.5×11, 17×22, 24X36, 48×72, and custom exhibition sizes are also available. Each substrate size constitutes an edition, but most of my artwork is unavailable in all substrate sizes.

Limited edition prints provide exclusivity and value for my collectors.

Open Editions Prints—An open edition has no limit on the number of prints that may be created. Prints may or may not be numbered.

Signature, Provence, and Certificates of Authenticity

Signature

All my prints are signed in the lower right corner of the photo with the edition numbers on the reverse side.

Provenance Information

Provenance traces the ownership history of a fine art photograph and is essential when reselling a piece of artwork. It also describes the artist’s motivation and place of image capture. I provide provenance information within the COA for all my Limited-Edition Prints.

Certificate of Authenticity

A Certificate of Authenticity (COA) accompanies every limited edition print created by Lynn Beeler. Serialized holograms are added to the COAs and back of the images to show genuine artwork.
